The Gashgai are Turkic-speaking nomadic tribes from the region around Shiraz in southwestern Iran. Kilims are double-sided, flat-woven wool carpets with a typical slit weave, where the colors change at the slits. The carpets show classic Gashgai motifs such as rhombuses, squares, stripes, and Caucasian star motifs. The color palette includes blue, yellow, red, green, and beige.
