The Kelim originates from the region around Shiraz in southwestern Iran and is made by the Turkish-speaking Gashgai nomads living there. It is a double-sided, flat-woven wool carpet made using the traditional slit-tapestry technique, where characteristic slits are created in the fabric by color changes. The pattern shows classic Gashgai motifs such as rhombuses, squares, stripes, as well as Caucasian star motifs, and combines traditional color tones such as blue, yellow, red, green, and beige, with the basic colors beige and orange being contrastingly complemented by a blue border.
