This Kilim originates from the traditional environment of the Gashgai, a Turkic-speaking, nomadic community from the region around Shiraz in southwestern Iran. The Kilims from this region are characterized by their reversible, flat-woven slit technique, in which typical weaving slits are created by color changes. The design features classic Gashgai motifs such as rhombuses, squares, stripes, and Caucasian star shapes. Color-wise, traditional natural tones such as blue, yellow, red, green, and beige dominate, giving the rug its authentic and expressive appearance.
