The Gashgai are Turkish-speaking, nomadic tribes who live in the region around Shiraz in southwestern Iran. Their Kilims are double-sided, flat wool carpets created through the characteristic slit weaving. Small slits form in the weft, where the colors change. Typical patterns of these carpets are rhombuses, squares, stripes, and Caucasian star motifs. Strong colors such as blue, yellow, red, green, and beige are used for the design, giving the carpets their vibrant and traditional appeal.
Siblings Vida and Amin combine their passion for craftsmanship and contemporary design to curate unique, handmade carpets. The pieces are knotted and woven by talented weavers, some of whom still live as nomads and use traditional handcrafting techniques on wooden looms. Their knowledge, experience, and individual style are incorporated into every piece. Each rug is made from natural vintage materials and yarn, authentic, timeless, and telling its own unique story.
