Kelim Gashgai Wool Multicolored

The Gashgai are Turkic-speaking, nomadic tribes who live in the region around Shiraz in southwestern Iran. Their Kelims are double-sided, flat wool carpets created by the characteristic slit weaving. This creates small slits in the weft where the colors change. Typical patterns of these carpets include rhombuses, squares, stripes, and Caucasian star motifs. Bold colors such as blue, yellow, red, green, and beige are used for the design, which give the carpets their vibrant and traditional appeal.
