This Kelim comes from the traditional environment of the Gashgai, a Turkish-speaking, nomadic community from the region around Shiraz in southwestern Iran. The carpets of this group are known for their reversible, flat slit weave, which creates characteristic weaving slits through color changes. The patterns show typical Gashgai elements such as rhombuses, squares, stripes, and Caucasian star shapes. The color palette is dominated by a classic range of natural tones such as blue, yellow, red, green, and beige, which give the carpet its vibrant and at the same time authentic appearance.
