This carpet is a handmade Senneh kilim from the region around Sanandaj in Western Iran. Carpets from this city as well as from nomads and farmers in the surrounding area are known for their fine craftsmanship and traditional patterns. Senneh kilims are usable on both sides and have the typical kilim slit weave. Characteristic are small patterns with rose bouquets as well as tree or flower motifs in rows. Traditional Mahi motifs or a large central field with rhombuses in different colors are also often found.
