About the Book: From the Great (Bamboo) Wall House to the National Stadium for the Tokyo Olympics – with every building, Japanese architect Kengo Kuma pursues an exceptionally sustainable approach by translating local craftsmanship into a new tactile architecture. This XXL monograph showcases the full breadth of his extraordinary oeuvre.

Biography: Kengo Kuma (born 1954 in Yokohama) attended the University of Tokyo and, after further studies at Columbia University in New York, founded the Spatial Design Studio in 1979. In 1990, he founded Kengo Kuma & Associates. Based in Tokyo and Paris, he teaches at the Graduate School of Architecture of the University of Tokyo, to which his "Kuma Lab" is also affiliated.
Philip Jodidio studied art history and economics at Harvard and was editor-in-chief of the French art magazine Connaissance des Arts for over two decades. His publications at TASCHEN include the series Homes for Our Time as well as monographs on numerous prominent architects, including Norman Foster, Tadao Ando, Renzo Piano, Jean Nouvel, and Zaha Hadid.
