The Wassily Chair was named after the painter Wassily Kandinsky, who was active at the Bauhaus at the time the furniture was created. According to legend, the bent tubular steel from his bicycle handlebars served as inspiration for the designer. The material was also utilized here. The Wassily Chair is the very first tubular steel furniture. The unusual constructivist frame is the central element of the design. This masterpiece unites aesthetics and design in a perfect way.
