The designer lamp NEMO was inspired by a natural phenomenon where equally sized spheres form a compact structure, creating a swarm of chambers. The designer used a fragment of the bundle of 14 bubbles for the table legs and developed the interfaces through the flexibility of the plywood sheets. The flat 4 mm plywood sheets were bent into a sculptural shape using steam, similar to the soundbox of a cello. This technology allows for the sculptural lightness and elegance of the lamp, while still being stable and strong.
