About the book: Queen Marie Antoinette was as enthusiastic about his precise and graceful flower paintings as Josephine Bonaparte: Unfazed by the turmoil of the French Revolution, Pierre-Joseph Redouté created hundreds of floral plates that made him the legendary doyen of flower painting. The hand-colored engravings in this volume evoke the beauty and splendor of long-vanished Parisian gardens and greenhouses.
