Rizbaf Gabbeh Rug Wool Beige

This handmade Gabbeh rug originates from the Fars province around Shiraz and is traditionally crafted by Gashghai and Lori nomads. Originally, Gabbeh rugs served as sleeping mats, as their high pile provides extra warmth. The use of hand-spun, lanolin-rich wool gives the surface a characteristic, slightly grainy texture and makes the rug both soft and comfortable. The colors are derived from natural plant dyes and range from classic natural tones to strong reds, yellows, greens, and blues. Most Gabbehs are simple, but occasionally stylized motifs from the daily life of the nomads can be found, such as animals, plants, or people.
