Rizbaf Gabbeh rug Wool Beige

This Gabbeh carpet is traditionally made by the Gashgai and Lori nomads in the Fars province around Shiraz. Originally, Gabbeh carpets served as bedding, as their high pile provides warmth. The hand-spun, lanolin-rich wool gives the carpet its typical grainy structure and makes it pleasantly soft. The color palette ranges from natural cream, brown, and gray tones to strong colors made with plant dyes. Most Gabbehs are simple, but when motifs appear, they show stylized scenes from the daily life of the nomads: animals like goats, camels, or dogs, plants, and people.
