Rizbaf Gabbeh Carpet Wool Beige

This handmade Gabbeh carpet originates from the Fars province around Shiraz and is traditionally crafted by Gashghai and Lori nomads. Originally, Gabbeh carpets served as sleeping mats, as their high pile provides extra warmth. The use of hand-spun, lanolin-rich wool gives the surface a characteristic, slightly grainy texture and makes the carpet soft and comfortable at the same time. The colors are derived from natural plant dyes and range from classic natural tones to bold shades of red, yellow, green, and blue. Most Gabbehs are simple, but occasionally stylized motifs from the everyday life of the nomads can be found, such as animals, plants, or people.
