Rizbaf are particularly fine Gabbeh carpets with an increased knot density. They are traditionally handcrafted by the Gashghai and Lori nomads. Hand-spun wool is often used, giving the carpet a lively and slightly coarse structure. At the same time, the surface is pleasantly soft and ensures a cozy feeling – ideal for rooms where one likes to move barefoot. Rizbaf carpets are available not only in natural, monochrome shades but also in colorful and imaginative designs. Typical patterns incorporate elements from the daily life of the nomads, such as animals, plants, or landscapes, and are often combined with geometric shapes.
