Desk Teak 1970s

The desk dates from the 1970s, designed by leading Danish designer Finn Juhl. Manufactured by the well-known manufactory France & Son. The structure and the top are covered with teak veneer. The legs are made of solid wood and perfectly integrated into the desk's construction.

France & Søn, formerly France & Daverkosen, is a sought-after vintage furniture brand that originated in Denmark. The company was founded around 1948 and is known for its machine-made Danish design furniture, which was designed by famous designers such as Finn Juhl and Verner Panton. The company specialized in seating furniture with teak frames and loose cushions and became a great success in the furniture industry. With the involvement of Julian France, the name was changed to France & Søn, whereby the original designs were retained, but new collections were introduced every year. Later, the company was taken over by Poul Cadovius and renamed CADO. He continued production with renowned designers, but closed at the end of the 1970s. The success of France & Søn in mass production led to less historical coverage, but they were pioneers in the use of teak on an industrial scale and focused on export-friendly, knock-down designs. Their furniture graced international offices and is still well-preserved today, highlighting the brand's commitment to craftsmanship quality.
