About the Book: In Search of Jazz: Accompany William Claxton on his legendary jazz journey through concert halls, clubs, gospel churches, and recording studios across the USA and get caught up in the groove of 1960s American jazz. From coast to coast, from unknown street performers to legends like Ella Fitzgerald, Mahalia Jackson, Miles Davis, and Muddy Waters, Claxton’s extensive photo collection documents the full diversity of the genre and the fleeting spirit of an era. His images shift between the intimate and the spectacular, creating a unique stylistic polyrhythm between the tenderness and the verve of this quintessential American art form.
