The Kelim originates from the Gashgai, Turkish-speaking nomadic tribes from the region around Shiraz in Southwest Iran. It is a flat-woven wool rug that can be used on both sides and is characterized by the typical slit weave, where fine slits are created at the color changes. The design shows classic Gashgai motifs such as rhombuses, squares, stripes, as well as Caucasian star motifs and is complemented by a harmonious color combination with a contrasting border.
