About the Book: From Coco Chanel to Alexander McQueen, this updated edition celebrates fashion designers from over a century. Expanded by 15 new labels, over 500 garments from the collection of the Museum at FIT in New York are presented. With texts by Museum Director Valerie Steele, style expert Suzy Menkes, and portraits by Robert Nippoldt.

Biography: Robert Nippoldt is an illustrator and book designer, known for publications and stage programs on the 1920s as well as illustrations for The New Yorker and Time Magazine. He has received over two dozen awards, including from the Art Directors Club New York and the International Design Award in Los Angeles.

Suzy Menkes, International Fashion Editor at Condé Nast International, is considered one of the most influential fashion critics worldwide. Her contributions appear in 23 international Vogue editions and 16 languages; she has been appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire and a Knight of the French Legion of Honor.

Colleen Hill is Chief Curator of Costumes at The Museum at FIT in New York. She has curated over a dozen exhibitions and published seven books on fashion.

Valerie Steele, Director and Chief Curator of The Museum at FIT, is an author, curator, and journalist. With a PhD from Yale, she is considered one of the most prominent experts in Fashion Studies and conveys her deep knowledge in an easily understandable way.
