About the Book: Already a standard work: 250 Soviet film posters from the 1920s and early 1930s, characterized by photomontage, constructivism, and Dadaism, an explosion of creativity that only Socialist Realism would later put an end to. Bright colors, dramatic perspectives, bold montage, cross-fade, and editing techniques, and innovative typography – highlights of graphic design by avant-garde artists like Alexander Rodchenko, the Stenberg brothers, and countless others.
Biography: After studying at Princeton, Susan Pack worked in the advertising industry for ten years, most recently as a senior copywriter at Saatchi & Saatchi in New York. In the 1970s, she began collecting rare advertising posters, thus building one of the world's most significant film poster collections of the Russian avant-garde.
