About the Book: Copulating biomechanoids, fear of the atomic bomb, and demons from the worlds of Lovecraft and Kubin: This comprehensive monograph expresses the dark psychedelia and haunting power of HR Giger's art in his paintings, sculptures, film work, and iconic record covers. It includes an extensive essay by Andreas J. Hirsch, quotes from contemporaries, critical reflections, and a comprehensive biography.
Biography: HR Giger (1940–2014) was a Swiss painter, sculptor, and stage designer who combined surrealist influences and dark fantasies into his own biomechanical universe. He became famous primarily for designing the "Alien" for the film of the same name, which won an Oscar for Best Visual Effects.

He has written books on Pablo Picasso, Tina Modotti, Friedensreich Hundertwasser, and HR Giger, and from 2009–2014 was the curator of KunstHausWien, where he curated exhibitions on Henri Cartier-Bresson and Linda McCartney, among others.
