These Kilim rugs originate from the Gashgai, Turkish-speaking nomadic tribes from the region around Shiraz in Southwest Iran. Kilims are reversible, flat wool rugs with a typical slit tapestry weave, where the weft has slits in which the colors change. The rugs feature classic Gashgai motifs such as rhombuses, squares, stripes, and Caucasian star motifs. Colors used include blue, yellow, red, green, and beige.
