This Kelim originates from the traditional environment of the Gashgai, a Turkic-speaking nomadic community from the region around Shiraz in southwestern Iran. Characteristic of these carpets is the double-sided usable, flat slit weave, which creates small weaving slits through color changes. The patterns include typical Gashgai elements such as rhombuses, squares, stripes, and Caucasian star motifs. Color-wise, classic natural tones such as blue, yellow, red, green, and beige dominate, giving the carpet its vibrant and authentic appearance.
