The Norwegian EPD Foundation calculated in 2020 how much CO₂e is generated during the manufacture of various types of furniture. With the increased purchase of recycled or repaired furniture, less new is produced in the long run. What does CO₂e mean?
Several greenhouse gases contribute to climate change to varying degrees, for example, carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and others. To summarize the climate impact of these greenhouse gases, they are converted to their "Global Warming Potential" (GWP), the unit of which is CO₂ equivalents (CO₂e). Depending on the activity, several different greenhouse gases can be emitted. Each greenhouse gas can be expressed as a CO₂ equivalent using the GWP.
